A basement in Steeleville, Illinois, needed some wall support work done. Cracks were starting to appear on the interior walls of the basement, indicative of a settling foundation. To address this issue, Woods came in and installed the GeoLock Anchor System. Heavy duty steel anchors are buried some ways away from the home and connected to the home using steel rods. These rods are then attached to steel wall plates that are placed directly on the wall. As the rods are tightened, they pull the wall back into place. With the addition of this installation, this basement will be stable for many years to come.
Moisture entered a crawlspace in Chaffee, MO, causing mold to grow on the support beams and rot. To solve these issues, a CleanSpace Encapsulation System was installed. This will completely isolate the crawlspace from the earth, dramatically reducing the humidity level. This will also eliminate mold growth and make the whole house healthier. Next, the SmartJack System was installed to stabilize crawlspace beams and floor joists. These will lift the floors above the crawl space back toward their original elevation and reduce floor bounce caused by weakened floor joists or excessive spans. This crawlspace will remain dry and stable for years to come!
Often times, homes built above crawl spaces experience some level of floor sagging. Usually, this is the result of moisture present in the crawl space damaging and rotting floor joists. This was the case in this Portageville, Missouri home, and the owner called the experts at Woods Basement Systems. To support the floors, a Woods team began by installing PowerBrace beams underneath the rotting beams to provide a stable foundation. Affixed to these were several Smart Jack supports, each capable of supporting 60,000 pounds, that were then adjusted to level the floors.
Over the years, this Thayer, Illinois basement's walls had become badly cracked and begun to bow inward slightly. The homeowner was concerned that this damage would continue if left unaddressed, and was afraid of a potential wall collapse. After a call to Woods Basement Systems, a team arrived at the home and got to work installing several GeoLock wall supports. These work by attaching an anchor buried deep in the firm soil away from the foundation to a steel plate on the interior surface of the basement wall, effectively pulling the wall outward and preventing any further damage.
