This roof was in horrible condition, there was shingle damage everywhere. It is barely noticeable due to the shingles condition but there was also lichen and algae growing all over the roof. Usually when there is shingle damage it's because of fierce weather or storms and this usually bends or loosens the shingles but on this house the shingles ended up rotting and breaking apart. The reason why the shingles are all different colors is because of the rot and extreme color fade. This roof also needed the decking layer replaced and the original layer was what we call a wood shake, which back in its time was a good option but now it is outdated. We replaced it with a longer lasting plywood decking layer. We also added Ice and Water and a new underlayment to further seal the roof. After that we laid the shingles down and this customer went with our IKO Dynasty IR Glacier Shingles. They now have a safe, dry, and stunning roof that comes with a 50 year warranty.
The Brown Roofing team headed out to Meriden to give homeowner Marilyn a total roof replacement. Every detail was carefully addressed, including this flashing around the chimney. Flashing, typically made from metal like this one, acts as a protective barrier at roof junctions, keeping water from sneaking in. With the chimney's flashing redone and securely sealed with caulk, Marilyn can rest easy, knowing leaks are a thing of the past! Brown Won't Let You Down!
For this job, our team took care of this customer's broken gutters. All around the house there was visible damage. This damage was most likely caused by old age and long exposure to the elements. Bad or damaged gutters should always be replaced ASAP because they can lead to costly damages. The customer chose our 6K gutter system in the white color, which matched their siding and blended in perfectly with the rest of the house.
The crew replaced the roof on this beautiful Branford, CT home with IKO Dynasty Shingles in Graphite Black!
The roof on this home was in fairly good shape for its age but there was still some algae growth. The main reason that we replaced this roof was because a few of the rafters were rotted and needed to be replaced.
It was good that this customer jumped on this quickly because if they had waited until something terrible happened then the repair cost would have been so much more. The first step to this repair was gaining access to the rafter, to do this we need to rip up the shingles and the surrounding decking layer. While we had the shingles up we also noticed a few sheets that needed to be replaced. Now that we had access we could cut out the rotted wood and install a brand new piece. After this, we replaced the missing plywood and moved on to the next step.
Next, we installed decking tape, Sealeron Ice and Water, and a synthetic underlayment. These three layers combined help seal the roof and they act as a final barrier in the event the shingles were damaged. This layer also helps insulate the roof creating a more eco-friendly and efficient environment.
Finally, we can lay down the shingles and flashings. We always start from the bottom edge and work our way up, we do this to ensure that the water runs off the roof instead of under the shingles. We also install flashings on all the openings like the vents and chimneys. Now that the roof is on, the customer can have peace of mind knowing that their rafter is fixed and their home is safe.
