We met with homeowners in Belfast, Maine who had large cracks forming in their foundation wall and could see the wall was bulging. The owners were concerned about the structural integrity of the home. Horizontal cracking is often a red flag for potential structural issues. When hydrostatic pressure builds up from water against the outside of the foundation walls, the weight of that water can push in on the wall, causing it to bulge and bow, and creating horizontal cracks. We installed StableLock Wall system to keep their home protected. Rather than excavating the old wall and having to lift the home, we can easily go in and pour a new concrete wall with patented bracing against the failing wall. StableLock stops the old wall from shifting further, and keeps the home protected. It is a less costly and intrusive option to install.
Homeowners in Belfast, Maine had lived in their house for 34 years when they noticed their floors were sinking and even cracking, and it was only getting worse. They reached out to TC Hafford Basement Systems for a free estimate. System Design Specialist Kathryn D. met with them to identify the problem and create a solution to keep their home protected. We installed SmartJacks steel posts in the crawl space to support the floors above. SmartJacks are custom fit to the home and can be adjusted to lift and level the floors. When floors begin to sink it is often because moisture has weakened the wooden support beams over time. We also installed Spray Foam insulation on the crawl space walls, sealing out moisture and cold air.
We helped homeowners in Corinth, Maine who had sagging floors and rotting, cracking support beams. Moisture had seeped into the crawl space and over time caused the beams to weaken and rot in some places. We installed SmartJacks support posts with new supplemental beams to keep the home stabilized. SmartJacks are made of galvanized steel with a coating that protects them from rusting. Each SmartJack can handle over 60,000 lbs and are custom fit to the space. We can tighten and adjust them over time to lift and level the floors above back to their original position.
Homeowners in Hampden, Maine had a home built in the 1800's that had old, cracked, stone foundation walls. The owners were concerned about the structural integrity of the home. We replaced their old rusted lally columns and wooden posts with SmartJacks. SmartJacks are zinc-coated steel posts that are custom fit to support the home above. The zinc coating protects the steel so it will not rust. The home now has ample support to keep it stable for many more years to come!
Homeowners in Stockton Springs, Maine reached out for help with their 1800's foundation. A foundation wall was bulging, causing horizontal cracking along the wall. Horizontal cracks are a red flag for structural issues as they are often a sign the wall is shifting from hydrostatic pressure. To stabilize the wall we installed PowerBraces, which are galvanized steel beams custom fit to support the wall. The PowerBraces not only support the wall, they can be adjusted over time to help straighten the wall back to its original position.
